Position Summary and Qualifications

Under the general oversight of the Nursing Unit Manager or their delegate, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator is responsible for directing and coordinating all activities within the nursing unit during assigned shifts. This role involves collaborating with other management team members to continuously assess the quality of patient care services delivered in the unit.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct and coordinate all functions during assigned shifts.
• Act as a resource for staff and assist in the education of nursing personnel.
• Ensure the overall quality of nursing care provided during shifts.
• Make decisions regarding unit activities based on Administrative Operational Standards, Nursing Administrative Standards, Human Resource standards, and Standards of Care, in collaboration with management.
• Support and exemplify the mission and ICARE standards of our organization.
• Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices by participating in quality care initiatives to drive process improvements.
• Maintain up-to-date professional knowledge, serve as a role model/resource, and supervise direct patient care.
• Foster effective and respectful communication to build collaborative relationships.
• Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess and access appropriate resources in patient-specific scenarios.
• Administer and manage medications according to established protocols, delivering patient-centered care in line with defined standards.
• Assist in evaluating staffing patterns to ensure optimal personnel utilization based on patient acuity.
• Support investigations, documentation, and resolution of complaints or incidents involving patients, visitors, physicians, and staff.
• Participate in and enforce hospital safety, quality, and risk management policies and regulatory standards.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental goals and objectives.
• Assist with interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and evaluating staff performance.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 90 days of starting employment.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• Diploma in Nursing required.
