Responsibilities include:Overseeing the organization of daily schedule of patients, greeting of patients and assignments of rooms.Resolving simple, informal complaints of employees and referring others to the appropriate management official.Instructing employees, including on-the-job-training, in specific tasks and job techniques and making available written instructions, reference materials and supplies.Maintaining a safe and attractive environment while meeting all JCAHO/DOH requirements.Being competent in providing medical and nursing support services, ex; assessment, patient education, laboratory services, phlebotomy, EKG, emergency care as appropriate.Approving and monitoring medical and non-medical supplies and equipment purchases.Providing leadership to the staff; ensuring positive physician/staff relations; conducting annual performance evaluations on subordinate staff.Ensuring deadlines and milestones are met. Referring problems and backlog conditions to Manager for assistance.Being courteous in accepting other job duties as assigned.Properly supervising the Medical Assistant(s), including Lead Medical Assistants, Patient Service Coordinators and being able to competently fill in for those positions.Exhibiting responsibility for the management of patient care areas, equipment and the ordering of supplies.Cooperatively and knowledgeably assisting in the development of policies, protocols, or procedures and reviewing them annually.Exhibiting skill in developing and providing training to Medical Assistants and Patient Service Coordinators.Interceding with the Manager on behalf of the team to inform the Manager of performance management issues/problems and to recommend/request related actions such as: assignments, reassignments, promotions, changes, peer reviews and performance appraisals.Serving as coach, facilitator in coordinating team initiatives and in consensus building activities among team members.Immediately reporting any situation that may impact safety of patients, visitors and staff.Monitoring and reporting on the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to ensure Management instructions have been met.Participating in interdisciplinary activities such as staff meetings and other committees as assigned.Accurately and thoughtfully assessing and communicating the strengths and developmental opportunities of employees, based upon their individual performance, contributions to the team, and relevant performance as compared to their peers. Complying with all relevant policies and being timely with respect to staff performance evaluations. Providing consistent feedback to the employee regarding the patient/family and customer experience and coaching on how to improve throughout the performance period. Raising the standard of performance each year within the organization.Monitoring working conditions (i.e., lighting, safety, noise levels, etc.).Maintaining competency requirements.Proficiently working under the supervision of the Manager; collaborating on quality of care issues, budgetary needs, and operational efficiencies.High School graduate or equivalent required.Minimum of 8 years of direct patient care and or phlebotomy experience.Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with individuals from multi-disciplinary groups.Possesses excellent organizational skills. Medical Records, Epic, Phlebotomy, Medical Assistant, Front Office Experience preferred.Supervisory experience preferred.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy licensure preferredCPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hireBasic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
