Location: Flying Fish Public Market & Grill – Myrtle Beach, SC Schedule: Part-Time and Full-Time Available | Evening Shifts (4PM–10PM) About Us Flying Fish Public Market & Grill at Barefoot Landing is known for fresh seafood, creative sushi, and a fun, energetic coastal atmosphere. Position Summary We’re looking for a Sushi Cook to join our sushi bar team. This role is ideal for someone with solid sushi‑making skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment but is not looking for a lead or supervisory position. You’ll support the sushi chefs by preparing rolls, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring smooth service throughout the shift. Responsibilities Prepare sushi rolls, nigiri, and sashimi according to Flying Fish recipes and standards Assist with daily prep including cutting fish, preparing rice, and stocking ingredients Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe sushi station Ensure freshness, proper storage, and rotation of all sushi ingredients Communicate with sushi chefs, kitchen staff, and servers to keep service running smoothly Provide friendly, knowledgeable interaction with guests when needed Uphold Flying Fish standards for presentation, consistency, and hospitality Requirements Previous experience preparing sushi in a restaurant setting Strong knife skills and understanding of sushi preparation techniques Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods Attention to detail and commitment to food safety Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs Positive attitude and willingness to learn from senior sushi chefs Competitive pay based on experience Opportunities for growth within Homegrown Hospitality Group Fun, upbeat work environment at Barefoot Landing Please note: This position involves regular exposure to common food allergens (shellfish, dairy, nuts, gluten, etc.) due to the nature of our kitchen and sushi bar operations.
