Underwriting Manager

Providing leadership and strategic direction, the remote Underwriting Manager will oversee teams of Underwriters and Quality Control professionals, ensuring sound decision-making on various loan products while enhancing underwriting guidelines and compliance. Key responsibilities Develop and improve underwriting guidelines in collaboration with Operations, Compliance, and Corporate training Evaluate funding requests and manage credit risk while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements Lead and instruct the underwriting team on risk management principles and credit guidelines Required qualifications Ten years of experience in conventional mortgage loan underwriting Minimum of three years managing an underwriting team Thorough knowledge of Fannie, Freddie, FHA, VA, USDA, and private investor underwriting guidelines Experience with mortgage-based systems, preferably Ellie Mae Encompass College degree preferred; valid FHA DE/CHUMS ID and appraisal authority preferred
