Job Description

This role combines hands-on technician and electrician responsibilities with foreman-level leadership on commercial construction projects. You will perform all phases of electrical work from new construction to fit-outs, oversee daily tasks on active job sites, and help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform various phases of commercial electrical work, including new construction and fit-out projects on sites such as storage facilities, car washes, and commercial buildings.

• Complete rough-in and finished electrical work, ensuring installations meet code requirements and project specifications.

• Carry out trenching and site work to prepare for underground electrical installations and conduit runs.

• Measure, bend, and install conduit (EMT, PVC, and other types), working with different pipe sizes and configurations as required by each project.

• Run and pull electrical wires and cables, including standard and low-voltage wiring, ensuring proper routing, labeling, and termination.

• Install electrical systems and components such as panels, switchgear, switches, receptacles, lighting, and various other electrical fixtures.

• Read and interpret blueprints and electrical drawings to plan and execute installations accurately; blueprint reading is a significant advantage in this role.

• Participate in daily toolbox meetings to review assignments, safety considerations, and project priorities, then proceed to complete tasks independently or as part of a team.

• Troubleshoot electrical issues on commercial job sites and perform repairs or adjustments to maintain safe and reliable operation.

• Use appropriate hand and power tools, meters, and test equipment to perform installations and verify system performance.

• Follow all safety procedures on commercial construction sites, including proper use of PPE and adherence to OSHA standards.

• Travel between job sites primarily within the Lehigh Valley, with occasional work in surrounding areas such as Norristown and other nearby locations.

• Support the foreman and project leadership in coordinating work, managing materials, and maintaining a clean, organized job site.

• Contribute to a positive team environment, communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors, and help train and support less experienced electricians when needed.

Essential Skills

• Commercial or industrial electrical field experience, with at least 3+ years of hands-on work on construction sites.

• Proficiency in rough-in and finished electrical work for commercial projects.

• Experience with trenching and site work related to electrical installations.

• Ability to bend and install conduit, including EMT and PVC, across various pipe sizes.

• Hands-on experience running and pulling electrical wires and cables, including low-voltage wiring.

• Demonstrated ability to install electrical systems such as panels, switchgear, switches, receptacles, lighting, and other fixtures.

• Capability to read and understand blueprints and electrical drawings (strongly preferred).

• Strong focus on safety and adherence to construction site safety protocols; OSHA-10 certification is a plus.

• Ownership of basic electrical hand and cordless power tools, including lineman’s pliers, side cutters, channel locks, needle-nose pliers, wire strippers, flashlight, volt tick or multimeter, roto-split, tape measure, keyhole saw, and utility knife, or willingness to obtain the full tool list.

• Ownership and use of required PPE, including hard hat, high-visibility shirts or vest, safety glasses, and steel-toe footwear.

• Ability to work Monday through Friday from approximately 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with flexibility for varying start and end times based on job sites and occasional Saturday work.

• Capability to work independently and as part of a team, managing assigned tasks through the full workday.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience on commercial construction sites in the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas.

• Back ground working on projects such as large storage facilities, car washes, and other commercial buildings.

• Comfort working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.

• Experience with electrical troubleshooting and cable installation, including low-voltage systems.

• General labor skills related to construction environments, such as material handling and site organization.

• Interest in long-term career growth, with the ambition to develop into a foreman or superintendent role.

• Willingness to work within a contract-to-hire structure, typically around nine months, with potential for earlier or later conversion based on performance and cultural fit.

• OSHA-10 certification or similar safety training (preferred but not required).

Work Environment

You will work primarily on commercial construction sites in the Lehigh Valley, with occasional travel to nearby areas such as Norristown and other regional locations. The role involves both indoor and outdoor work, often in active construction environments with varying weather and site conditions. Typical hours are Monday through Friday from about 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with start and end times that may shift based on project needs, plus occasional Saturday work when required. The daily routine begins with a toolbox meeting to review assignments and safety topics, followed by independent or team-based work for the remainder of the day. You will use standard commercial electrical tools and cordless power equipment, as well as test instruments like multimeters and voltage testers. Proper PPE is required, including a hard hat, high-visibility shirts or vest, safety glasses, and steel-toe footwear, in line with commercial construction site standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Allentown, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
