Surgical Technologist – Pediatric OR

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | Four 10-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM), Monday through Friday; call shifts for nights, weekends, and holidays. Weekend call on a rotation of approximately 1 weekend every 4 weeks (Saturday 7:00 AM through Monday 7:00 AM). Holiday coverage is on-call only when applicable during the contract period. Self-scheduling is available and balanced prior to schedule publication.

Key Responsibilities

• Scrub in on pediatric and adult surgical cases across multiple service lines including general, ENT, dental, urology, ophthalmology, and simple orthopedic procedures in a high-volume OR environment with up to 30 total operating suites
• Support 3–4 pediatric surgery suites per day, working alongside a 1 RN / 1 ST staffing model per OR
• Respond to on-call needs within a 30-minute call response time
• Float within the department (orthopedic, neuro, general, cardiac, SPD) as needed to assist between rooms, provide lunch relief, or serve as a second scrub
• Document and operate within an Epic EMR environment
• Adhere to a drug-free campus policy, including a negative drug screen for all panels prior to start

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of scrubbing experience
• Active Illinois surgical technologist license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum 2 years of pediatric OR scrubbing experience strongly preferred
• Familiarity with pediatric general, ENT, urology, ophthalmology, and orthopedic cases
• Experience with Epic EMR
• Ability to primary scrub in general surgery cases depending on experience level
