Procurement Specialist

Technical Customer Support & Procurement Specialist Salary Range: $65,000 – $75,000 Role Overview We are seeking a highly organized and technically savvy professional to serve as a bridge between engineering teams and procurement operations. This role functions as an “inside customer support” partner to engineers—ensuring they have the tools, components, and equipment they need to stay focused on high-value work. This is not a traditional purchasing role focused on cost negotiation. Instead, this position emphasizes responsiveness, technical understanding, and service—helping engineers efficiently source and receive specialized components and equipment. Key Responsibilities Act as the primary point of contact for engineers requesting technical components, equipment, and materials Review and validate engineering specifications to ensure correct parts and hardware are ordered Source and procure technical items (e.g., test equipment, ICs, circuit board components) from vendors such as online suppliers and distributors Track orders and proactively communicate status updates, delivery timelines, and delays Manage incoming inventory, ensuring accurate receipt and organization of materials Identify and onboard new vendors, including ensuring they meet internal approval requirements Prioritize and manage multiple requests, including urgent or high-priority needs Provide clear, proactive communication when priorities shift or timelines change Maintain a high level of customer service, ensuring engineers feel supported and informed throughout the process Required Qualifications 2–5 years of experience in a technical support, procurement, operations, or similar role Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand engineering requirements (not a full engineer, but comfortable working closely with them) Excellent organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-first mindset Ability to prioritize competing requests and manage shifting priorities effectively Preferred Qualifications Experience sourcing electronic components, test equipment, or similar technical products Experience working in an engineering, manufacturing, or hardware-focused environment What Success Looks Like Engineers can rely on you as a trusted partner to quickly and accurately fulfill requests Orders are processed efficiently with clear, proactive communication Urgent needs are handled with speed and professionalism, without disrupting overall workflow Procurement processes run smoothly without bottlenecks or missed requests Why This Role This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, solving problems, and staying close to technology—without being in a full engineering role.
