Special Education Teacher

Summary
Robert Kerr Elementary is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and parents to ensure a cohesive approach to student learning and development.
- Provide direct instruction and support in both one-on-one and small group settings.
- Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting instructional strategies as needed.
- Create a positive and supportive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and independence.
- Utilize various teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and progress towards IEP goals.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and stay current with best practices in special education.
- Advocate for the needs of students with disabilities within the school community.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Valid state certification or licensure in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
