About the Position

Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour PM-AM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years of recent equivalent experience License: RN License (State Residency Proof Required) Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - Chest tube management - Administration of medications including drips such as Diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, or amiodarone - Care for lines, tubes, and drains for post-surgical patients - Experience with tracheostomies and laryngectomies - Telemetry experience - Management of complex wounds - Central line care and maintenance, and blood draws Description: This role is for a busy surgical unit that cares primarily for trauma and acute care surgical patients. The unit consists of a 36-bed adult surgical area. The team prioritizes rehabilitating and supporting patients' needs. Common diagnoses include traumatic spinal cord and brain injuries, orthopedic injuries from trauma, and acute surgical issues such as hernia repair and bowel obstructions. The unit is equipped with negative pressure rooms for specific patient populations. The patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:4 during the day and 1:5 at night. Experience in a fast-paced medical-surgical environment, preferably within a trauma center, is essential. Candidates must demonstrate competence in the required skills and be ready to thrive in a high-demand setting.
