About the Position

Job Title: Neuro ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Neuro ICU Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years Neuro ICU experience preferred at a level one trauma facility License: KY or compact license required Certifications: EKG, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Experience with ICP and lumbar drains - Experience with charting in EPIC preferred - Ability to float to other units - Availability to work weekends and holidays - Local travelers within 100 miles are not accepted Description: 2 years Neuro ICU experience preferred at a level one trauma facility. Travel experience preferred but not required. EKG, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required. Must have experience with ICP and lumbar drains. Experience with Licox preferred. You will be required to float within the neurosciences service line and to other ICUs outside of the neurosciences service line. Additional competencies include care of ventilated patients, CVA/acute stroke management, ICP monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, lumbar drains, management of dysrhythmias, post-neurosurgery management, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury. You will work with adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Daily census in the unit is 18 with a total of 20 beds. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretaries. Patient diagnoses include stroke, SAH, SDH, EDH, IVH, SCI, DAI, TBI, and brain tumors. Special procedures include EVD, lumbar drains, and Licox.
