Registered School Nurse / RN (Full-time or Part-time) Location: Lone Tree, Iowa Job Details Job ID: 5692857 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Start Date: 2026-27 School Year (Immediately if needed) Reports to: Building Principal Job Description Provide health services to students, including basic first aid, medication administration, and the use of professional nursing judgment for procedures and tasks as indicated by a student’s health care provider. Deliver emergency care and communicate with parents, school administration, and emergency personnel as necessary. Document all nursing services in the district’s computerized student information system and collaborate with school staff and AEA to implement individualized health plans. Essential Functions Collaborate with school administration to develop and implement a district-wide health plan. Recommend modifications to school programs to meet students’ health needs. Assist school personnel in establishing sanitary and safe conditions in schools. Promote and assist in the control of communicable diseases through preventive immunization programs, early detection, surveillance, and reporting of contagious diseases. Delegate, determine competency, supervise, monitor, and evaluate non-licensed personnel performing health procedures. Maintain appropriate health records and protect the confidentiality of data. Provide necessary health information for student Individualized Education Programs (IEP). Develop Individualized Health Care Plans (IHP) as needed. Provide necessary health information for student 504 plans. Conduct school health assessments and screenings. Facilitate student access to physical and mental health services. Administer aid for a student or staff member who has suffered injury or emergency illness. Communicate with school administration, parents, school personnel, health care providers, and other agencies on school health matters. Provide medication and other health procedures as necessary. Promote sound nutritional practices. Administer the Medicaid program. Provide leadership and support for staff wellness plans. Participate in the design and development of health curricula. Perform additional essential functions as written by the district. Drug & Alcohol Testing Responsibilities (Optional) Implement and conduct the district’s drug and alcohol testing program. Complete collector training and recertification as required. Comply with US Department of Transportation urine specimen collection procedures and substance abuse professional guidelines. Ensure proper collection of saliva and/or specimen samples. Perform additional tasks as written by the district. Qualifications Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university. Licensed Registered Nurse (RN). Ability to obtain and maintain a Statement of Professional Recognition (SPR). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and implement ideas from technical documents, assessment data, professional journals, and regulations. Competency in research and information gathering using technology. Terms of Employment Salary and benefits to be determined by the district board. Terms of employment may be collectively bargained in the district’s master contract. Evaluation The School Nurse will be evaluated by the Superintendent at least annually in accordance with law, board policy, and this job description.
