Monitor Technician

Location: Suffolk, VA Work Shift: Third (Nights) Responsibilities Observe, recognize, interpret, evaluate, and document EKG tracings on telemetry–monitored patients to detect deviations from the patient's norm. Promptly notify appropriate personnel of dysrhythmias. Operate and utilize the monitoring system to full capacity. Ensure proper and safe functioning of telemetry equipment. Education Completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course is required upon hire. Candidates who have not completed such a program must complete a certificate program within 90 days of hire. One year of experience in monitor technician surveillance within the last five years will be accepted in lieu of a program. All monitoring technicians must successfully complete the Sentara Basic Arrhythmia competency tool, which includes passing a basic arrhythmia exam. Certification/Licensure No specific certification or licensure requirements. Experience One year of healthcare experience is preferred.
