Dean of Students Support and Intervention Starting Date: Immediately Job Description Reports To: Principal Classification: Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) Work Calendar: Teacher Contract plus additional days as assigned Position Summary At Granby Elementary, we believe every student deserves to feel safe, connected, supported, and challenged. The Dean of Student Support and Intervention serves as a member of the school leadership team and helps ensure that all students receive the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support needed to thrive. This position balances direct intervention services for students with leadership responsibilities that strengthen school-wide systems, staff capacity, and student outcomes. The Dean works collaboratively with students, families, teachers, paraprofessionals, specialists, and administrators to support positive student behavior, strengthen instructional practices, coordinate intervention systems, and foster a positive school culture. Through coaching, problem-solving, and relationship-building, this position helps advance Granby Elementary's mission of helping students grow their hearts, bodies, and brains. Essential Responsibilities Student Support and School Leadership Support the principal in implementing school-wide systems that promote student achievement, engagement, attendance, and well-being. Serve as a member of the school's leadership team and contribute to school improvement planning and implementation. Coordinate and facilitate the school's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). Coordinate Section 504 plans, meetings, documentation, and compliance requirements. Coordinate school assessment systems and serve as the School Assessment Coordinator. Analyze academic, behavioral, attendance, and assessment data to identify student needs and monitor the effectiveness of interventions and supports. Support the implementation of school-wide culture, PBIS, and social-emotional learning initiatives. Support student discipline through restorative practices, problem-solving, and relationship-centered approaches. Support the consistent implementation of student discipline policies and procedures while emphasizing accountability, relationship-building, and student growth. Conduct investigations related to student behavior and assist with disciplinary processes as assigned by the principal. Facilitate student, family, and staff meetings to develop plans that support student success. Communicate proactively with families regarding student supports, progress, attendance, and behavior concerns. Serve as a visible, approachable, and supportive presence throughout the school. Assist with supervision, safety planning, crisis response, and school-wide events as assigned. Staff Coaching and Support Coach and support certified and classified staff in implementing effective instructional, behavioral, and relationship-building practices. Provide feedback, modeling, resources, and problem-solving support to strengthen classroom management, student engagement, and instructional effectiveness. Support staff in implementing MTSS plans, accommodations, intervention strategies, and behavior supports. Facilitate collaborative problem-solving and professional learning opportunities aligned with school improvement goals. Partner with staff to create learning environments where all students feel safe, valued, connected, and successful. Support new staff through mentoring, coaching, and onboarding processes. Serve as a designated evaluator for assigned certified and classified staff as directed by the principal. Conduct classroom observations and provide actionable feedback through the district evaluation system. Collaborate with grade-level teams, interventionists, specialists, and support staff to ensure coordinated services for students. Academic and Behavioral Intervention Provide direct intervention services to students individually and in small groups. Deliver evidence-based literacy, math, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions based on identified student needs. Monitor student progress and adjust interventions accordingly. Collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to align interventions with core instruction and student goals. Maintain accurate records of interventions, progress monitoring, and student outcomes. Communicate student progress and intervention outcomes with staff and families. Qualifications Required Valid Colorado Teaching License. Minimum of four (4) years of successful educational experience. Demonstrated experience supporting student achievement through intervention, differentiation, or targeted support systems. Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Preferred Master's degree in curriculum, instruction, educational leadership, school administration, or a related field. Colorado Principal License or willingness to pursue administrative licensure. Completion of Colorado Department of Education’s Evaluator Training. Experience with MTSS, intervention systems, and data-based decision-making. Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring, and supporting both certified and classified staff. Experience facilitating teams, leading collaborative problem-solving, and working within Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). Experience supporting student discipline, behavior intervention planning, restorative practices, and family engagement. Experience conducting observations, providing feedback, and supporting professional growth. Bilingual skills. Communicates clearly, professionally, and compassionately in both written and verbal formats. Supports the growth and development of certified and classified staff through coaching, feedback, and mentorship. Understands effective instructional practices, intervention systems, behavior supports, and MTSS processes. Uses academic, behavioral, attendance, and assessment data to drive decision-making and improve outcomes for students. Demonstrates skill in conflict resolution, problem-solving, and facilitating difficult conversations. Leads with empathy, integrity, professionalism, and a student-first mindset. Demonstrates a commitment to fostering a positive school culture where students and staff feel connected, valued, and supported. Believes all students can learn and succeed and advocates for equitable opportunities for every learner. Demonstrates flexibility, sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to work independently while supporting building-wide goals. Maintains confidentiality and models ethical leadership practices. Preferred Leadership Experience Leading school improvement initiatives or instructional programs. Coordinating MTSS, 504, or student support systems. Supporting student discipline investigations and restorative processes. Conducting staff observations, evaluations, and feedback cycles. Facilitating professional learning and adult development. Coordinating school assessment systems and data analysis processes.
