Role Description The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care to individuals in a correctional health setting, following established nursing protocols and under the supervision of registered nurses and medical providers. Daily responsibilities include performing patient assessments, administering medications, completing treatments, and monitoring vital signs and patient responses. The LPN documents all care accurately in medical records, assists with sick call and chronic care clinics, and supports providers during examinations and procedures. The role involves coordinating with custody staff to ensure safe movement of patients, responding to medical emergencies, and adhering to infection control, safety, and security policies. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Pendleton, IN, requiring consistent attendance and the ability to work assigned shifts, including possible evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Qualifications Active, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Indiana and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Demonstrated clinical skills in medication administration, basic patient assessment, wound care, and routine treatments in an acute or long-term care setting. Strong documentation and communication abilities, including accurate charting, clear reporting to providers, and effective collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. Ability to follow established protocols, infection control measures, and safety procedures within a secure correctional environment. Solid organizational and time-management skills, with the capacity to prioritize multiple patients and tasks in a fast-paced setting. Professional demeanor, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain composure and confidentiality when working with diverse and potentially high-risk populations.
