Endoscopy Technician

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is a 591‑bed university‑affiliated medical center providing advanced diagnostic and therapeutic care across a wide range of specialties. Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a GI Technician - ASC Manhasset Endoscopy, Full‑Time, Days. Endoscopy experience highly preferred. In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for preparing the procedure room, ensuring all equipment is ready for both advanced and routine endoscopic procedures, and providing safe, therapeutic, age‑specific care under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The candidate will adhere to strict scope and equipment reprocessing guidelines, assist with patient transport and cleaning duties, and maintain proper par levels of endoscopic supplies within budget. Job Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Sets‑up procedure rooms in an organized and timely manner, ensuring supplies and equipment are ready; performs cleaning duties necessary to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment; complies with regulatory and quality policies governing safety and infection control; monitors product supply usage and waste reduction. Adheres to strict scope reprocessing standards based on endoscope model, manufacturer guidelines, and regulatory safety standards; initiates corrective action if protocol breaches occur; documents reprocessing protocols properly. Accurately reports all changes in patient condition and pertinent patient information to the registered nurse; assists patients, families, visitors, and health‑care team members by answering questions and delivering messages; ensures emergency equipment is present and operational, and responds to emergency situations as appropriate. Provides direct patient care utilizing policy, procedure, patient care guidelines, physician orders, and endoscopy skill set; assists and supports team members as needed. Participates in orientation of new employees, unit‑based quality improvement measures, and stays current in endoscopic and related areas. Transports patients safely and efficiently throughout the facility; sanitizes transport equipment according to infection control policy. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or GED. Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Experience as a Nursing Assistant or equivalent (1–2 years). Excellent communication skills (written and oral), interpersonal, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills. Basic computer skills. Must obtain, within the first six months of employment, one of the following certifications: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST), Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER), or Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER). Upon hiring, will participate in SGNA Associates Program; after one year, must complete SGNA Advanced Associates Program.
