Patient Registration Representative I

In this vital role, you will facilitate seamless check-ins for both outpatient and inpatient services, navigate multi-screen medical systems to verify insurance coverage, calculate out-of-pocket liabilities, and compassionately guide patients through financial assistance options. Working in a high-volume hospital setting, the ideal candidate brings computer proficiency, solid knowledge of medical terminology, and outstanding communication skills. Key Responsibilities: Register and pre-register inpatient and outpatient accounts accurately in EHR systems under strict HIPAA standards. Verify insurance eligibility, calculate patient liabilities (copays, deductibles, coinsurance), and securely collect payments per EMTALA guidelines. Screen uninsured and underinsured patients for financial assistance and presumptive eligibility programs. Maintain efficient workflow and documentation standards, targeting 20–30+ completed registrations per shift. Deliver hospitable, empathetic customer service to patients, visitors, and clinical staff. Qualifications & Skills: High school diploma or GED equivalent; valid Driver's License. 1+ year of medical office, hospital registration, or medical billing experience. Solid knowledge of health insurance verification, billing, and medical terminology. computer proficiency and 45+ WPM typing speed across multi-screen workflows. Exceptional communication, customer service, and problem-solving abilities. bilingual English/Spanish or English/Mandarin is a plus.
