Laborer II - Heavy Haul DriverThe Laborer II - Heavy Haul Driver is committed to supporting Louisiana Bridge Builders by safely and efficiently transporting heavy construction equipment and concrete plant components. This role requires a skilled driver experienced in operating and maneuvering specialized vehicles and trailers for oversized loads, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This position plays a crucial role in supporting construction operations by delivering equipment on time and in optimal condition.This position is based in Lake Charles, LA.Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesClean and prepare construction project site by removing debris and possible hazards.Safely transport heavy equipment and concrete plant components to and from jobOperate heavy haul trucks with attached trailers (e.g., lowboys, flatbeds) while adhering to all driving safety and DOT regulations.Securely load, bind, and inspect equipment, ensuring safe transport and preventing shifting or damage duringPlan and follow optimal routes for oversized loads, considering clearance requirements, weight limits, and any route restrictions.Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and trailer to ensure they meet safety standards and are free from mechanical issues.Maintain compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and federal and state transportation lawsCommunicate effectively with dispatchers, site supervisors, and other team members to coordinate timely pickups and deliveries.Report any maintenance needs to the fleet department and schedule repairs as necessary.Ability to operate, load and unload equipment safely and efficiently.Ability to follow verbal and written instructionsPosition assists with repairs, breakdowns, and any other assigned duties by supervisionStrict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in OSHA guidelines and MSHA policies and procedures manual.Performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Knowledge, Abilities, & Skills for SuccessEffectively communicate in a positive and professional manner through written and verbal communications in all interfaces with customers/public, fellow employees, vendors, etc.Ability to work as a team member and exert initiative to work independently to reach a goal.Ability to embrace change in the workplace while encouraging others to seek innovative approaches.Ability to function effectively as a team player and collaborator.Ability to work a flexible work schedule, additional and/or different hours, including but not limited to nights, weekends, and/or holidays, as needed, to best serve the business operations.At a minimum, the Laborer II - Heavy Haul Driver must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) without air brakes and automatic transmission restrictions, current Medical Examiner's Certificate, clean driving record in compliance with LBB & DOT Standards, and the ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen with at least 3+ years' experience with construction labor and operating a heavy haul truck.
