Under direction of the Managing Director Dressage, this position supports the Sport Department’s mission to put in place programs that will identify talented athletes and horses, and assist with their development, with the goal of achieving success in international competition. This position will play a strong role for both the administration of programs as well as the day-to-day support that the Sport Department provides to the membership. This will include partnering with various organizations, departments, committees, and communities; ensuring effective communication among stakeholders; overseeing calendar processes and procedures; and leading in several identified initiatives for sport performance. The role may also involve supporting the delivery of programs in other FEI disciplines. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• USEF Dressage Development & Emerging Programs
  • Under the direction of the Managing Director, serve as point of contact for the Emerging Athlete, Young Horse and Development Programs. 
  • Communicate effectively with Emerging and Development Program Athletes, Owners, Support Staff, Parents, and Coaches. 
  • Developing and implementing logistic plans for Training & Evaluation Session, Home Visits, Educational Opportunities, and Scouting Events. 
  • Schedule a minimum of two (2) review calls a year with Program members with relevant Program Coach. 
  • Assist the USEF Dressage Coaches with setting athlete targets/goals/KPIs.  
  • Maintain athlete records by documenting and entering data into the athlete tracking system in a timely manner. 
  • Collaborate with USEF Dressage Coaching Staff and Dressage Staff in developing and implementing the Program Pathway. 
  • Support the Managing Director with Elite & Pre-Elite Program management by developing and implementing logistic plans for Training & Evaluation Session, records-keeping, applications, etc. 
• FEI North American Youth Championships
  • Coordinate the FEI North American Youth Championships for Dressage including the application process, selection, and logistics. Working with the Organizing Committee, USEF Jumping Department and USDF to ensure a successful FEI Championship.
• FEI World Breeding Championships
  • Coordinate the application process, selection, and logistics of the FEI World Breeding Championships for Dressage Young Horses. Including overseeing the development of selection procedures.
• Support planning process and logistics for National Championships
• Support management of USEF Dressage Seat Medal Finals
• Exceptional member service is provided, and member relationships are enhanced.
• Communication with members and staff is effective and professional.
• Relationships with Directors and other staff are productive and promote a positive team environment.
• Support Director of Para Dressage with the USEF Dispensation Certificate Program, liaise with the Adaptive Sports Committee in reviewing medical diagnostic files and processing dispensation certificates for compensating aids. Assist in managing and maintaining the USEF Classification / Dispensation Certificate database.
• Assistance is provided to other department members when needed.

Required, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Must be proficient in MS Office programs such as Excel, Word, and Outlook. 
• Must have excellent attention to detail and an excellent sense of planning and organization while being efficient with their use of time. 
• Must display a high degree of professionalism. 
• Must display initiative and be a self-starter. 
• Must have the ability to: collaborate and communicate effectively amongst both internal and external groups, prioritize and deal with the unexpected, maintain a high level of performance in stressful situations, and remain well organized and effectual within changing environments.
• Prepared to work outside normal working hours with regular travel within the U.S. and internationally

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred. 
• Some college preferred.
• 1-2 years’ experience with equestrian competitions preferred. 

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent travel
• Extended hours of availability, including evenings and weekends
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
