Solderer II – Electronics Assembly Technician

The Solderer II is responsible for performing precision soldering and assembly operations on electronic components and subassemblies within a production environment. This role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to follow detailed work instructions, engineering drawings, and industry standards. Work is performed using magnification tools, small hand tools, and soldering equipment to ensure high-quality assembly of printed circuit boards (PCBs).

Key Responsibilities

• Perform precision soldering of electronic components on printed circuit boards (PCBs) and subassemblies.
• Assemble fine-pitch components, bottom-terminated devices, through-hole parts, and jumper wires per work instructions and specifications.
• Conduct advanced rework, modification, and repair of electronic assemblies as needed.
• Operate under magnification using microscopes and lighted workstations to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Apply solder using a soldering iron to create reliable electrical and mechanical joints.
• Prepare components and surfaces for soldering by applying flux and ensuring proper cleanliness.
• Clean and maintain soldering tools, including tips, using approved methods and materials.
• Follow all Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and board handling procedures.
• Handle moisture-sensitive devices (MSDs) in accordance with MSL requirements.
• Accurately use electronic manufacturing systems (e.g., OCuity) for tracking and documentation.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to pass and apply IPC standards, including:
• • IPC-A-610 (Modules 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 & 8)
  • IPC-J-STD-001
  • IPC 7711/7721 (Rework, Modification, and Repair of Electronic Assemblies)
  • IPC-DVD-64C Component Identification
• Strong understanding of electronic assembly processes and soldering best practices.
• Ability to work with small components requiring high precision and steady hand control.
• 2–4 years of experience in soldering electronic assemblies or related manufacturing work.
• Strong attention to detail, quality, and adherence to procedures.

Shift Schedule

• 1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday–Friday
• 2nd Shift: 3:45 PM – 2:15 AM, Monday–Thursday

Compensation

• $23.00 – $26.00 per hour, based on skills and experience
