POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Control Apprentice supports the functions of quality in the day-to-day factory floor activities and issues with customers and suppliers. The QC Apprentice follows defined methods to measure the tolerances of the product, while operating test machinery and collecting data.
* This is an apprenticeship position .
It is designed to take you at least 3 years without any previous experience. You can receive 6 months credit for every 2 years of qualifying experience at company discretion.
You will be hired at the beginning step. After a six-month probation period, you will go to step 2A. After 6 months working at 2A, you will go to 2B with a satisfactory evaluation. After 12 months working at 2B, you will go to 2C with a satisfactory evaluation. After 12 months working at 2C, you will be qualified to take a test to progress to Quality Assurance Technician if there is a vacancy. You must work at least 12 months at Step 2C. After reaching 2C, your evaluation will be held annually every September.
Any Leave Without Pay greater than two weeks at any step will be added to the time worked at that step to qualify to progress to the next step. These two weeks also factor in Treaty Rights Leave for Squaxin Island Tribal Members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Collects finished goods samples in accordance with the schedule.
2. Collects and tests raw tobacco samples for moisture analysis prior to the product run.
3. Inspects incoming Raw Materials.
4. Documents and records all sample results.
5. Communicates and documents all quality issues with Production Manager
6. Assists in the maintenance of regulatory and compliance documents.
7. Inspects production lines to approve changeover.
8. Ensures work orders are properly completed by production staff.
9. Assists with development of new procedures to increase efficiency.
10. Attends and/or facilitates all mandatory meetings and training.
11. Maintains confidentiality at all times.
12. Maintains awareness and sensitivity to Native American Culture.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
? This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

? Knowledge of general manufacturing/warehouse activities.
? Knowledge of quality assurance programs.
? Familiarization with Quality Control acronyms and language a must.

? Ability to prioritize and plan work activities and meet challenges with resourcefulness.

? Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
? Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
? Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
? Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
? Ability to interpret Quality results as produced by testing equipment and make reasonable decisions off information required.
COMPUTER SKILLS
? Microsoft Office, to include excel or data spreadsheets.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education Required: High School Diploma or GED
Education Preferred: N/A
Experience: One year of related experience in quality control or similar field.
A combination of education and experience may be considered as a substitute for a degree requirement.
Certificates & Licenses: Washington State driver’s license; QC certifications preferred.

This position falls under the Skookum Creek Tobacco Company’s Regular Treaty Rights LWOP Policy for Squaxin Island Tribal members. There will be no Treaty Rights Leave Without Pay for Squaxin Island Tribal Members during their probationary period without preapproval.
