Job Title: Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse

Must-Have: Previous PACU and Critical Care experience preferred
Description:
Responsible to the Director of Perioperative Services and Unit Manager for overall nursing practice.
Provides professional nursing care based on current nursing knowledge through the use of industry standards during the Post Anesthesia Phase I and Phase II.
Focuses on providing a transition from a totally anesthetized state to one requiring less acute interventions.
Utilizes the nursing process through assessment of patient needs, development of a plan to meet those needs, implementation of nursing interventions, and evaluation of the effectiveness of care to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Cares for patients across the pediatric through geriatric age spectrum.
Collaborates and communicates with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
Ensures that supplies and equipment for emergency care of patients are readily available and functional.
Continuously evaluates patient progress toward the achievement of discharge guidelines.
Accepts responsibility and accountability for maintaining knowledge, skill, and competency in Post-Anesthesia nursing on an ongoing basis.
Maintains awareness of professional issues and advancements related to Post-Anesthesia Nursing.
