Lead Data and Analytics Engineer

Lead Data and Analytics Engineer role at AbbVie focused on designing and implementing data solutions for Corporate Services and HR operations. The position combines technical leadership with strategic thinking to drive business efficiency through enterprise automation and AI integration.
Responsibilities
- Engage with Corporate Services and HR stakeholders to understand current processes and translate requirements into technical solution designs
- Engineer scalable data engineering solutions delivering production-ready code integrated with enterprise systems
- Build rapid prototypes and MVPs to validate solutions with stakeholders and accelerate time-to-value
- Implement data quality, observability, governance, and security practices across enterprise environments
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 7+ years experience, or Master's with 6 years, or PhD with 2 years
- Expert-level Python and SQL for production-quality pipeline automation and enterprise integrations
- Experience building batch and real-time data pipelines using Spark, Kafka, Flink, Databricks, or equivalent
- Proficiency with modern cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
- Strong knowledge of data modeling, warehousing, lakes, and lakehouse architectures
- Experience with data orchestration tools such as Airflow, dbt, or Prefect
- Demonstrated ability to mentor technical staff and lead cross-functional initiatives
