INSTITUTION REGISTERED NURSE

BURNS, OREGON - EASTERN OREGON YOUTH CORRECTIONAL FACILITY

Current Work Shift: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am- 5:30 PM

The Oregon Youth Authority (OYA) is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Health Services team at Eastern Oregon Youth Correctional Facility in Burns . In this role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care that supports the physical and mental health of youth in OYA’s care, while working within a safe and secure close-custody environment. You’ll use your nursing expertise to assess health concerns, respond to emergencies, coordinate ongoing care, and help youth understand and manage their health needs.

Duties & Responsibilities as a RN:

• Assess and treat youth experiencing physical or mental health concerns, including developing nursing care plans and providing emergency and first-aid care.
• Provide routine nursing care by carrying out provider orders, evaluating treatment effectiveness, collecting laboratory specimens, and providing health education.
• Administer and manage medications, including assessing allergies, dosages, side effects and drug interactions and maintaining required pharmacy records.
• Maintain accurate and confidential electronic medical records, including documenting patient care, treatment, nursing care plans, appointments and essential health information.
• Support clinic operations and facility safety, including staff training, medical supply and equipment oversight, and maintaining security practices required in a close-custody environment.
