Logistics Management Specialist

The primary purpose of this position is to direct, develop and implement policy programs and procedures for accurate Supply Chain Management planning and management with heavy emphasis on new and existing system integration and training efforts with Federal Electronic Health Record deployment at the station and higher levels as well as the development and training of staff assigned to the Supply Chain Management section located within the Harry S. Truman VAMC catchment area. Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:

• Integration - Resolves or contributes to the resolution of assigned high-priority logistics, supply, distribution, information or service problems through personal action or immediate coordination with required local personnel/activities. Establishes procedures for the integrated efforts of SCM operations with services throughout the VAMC and supported activities for mission essential deployment of SCM EMRT planning. Ensures that all assigned personnel and equipment are properly identified and prepared for deployment during simulated and actual emergency response exercises. Performs logistical assessments of strategic supply support in coordination with the supported customers and alerts management of systemic problems. Troubleshoots and resolves issues where supply chain deficiencies affect the mission. Develops designated supply input for fiscal year and long-range plans and programs, analyzing material for reasonableness, consistency, and validity of various assumptions.
• Analytics - Analyzes the effectiveness of logistics and vendor support services. Develops ongoing strategic analyses across supply chain activities and recommends solutions for improvements. Researches and studies private industry as well as Department of Veteran Affairs best practices to develop and apply concepts that best fit and support Supply Chain requirements. Supports long range supply chain requirements and interactions, optimizing supply chain support.

Training and Customer Service - Develops logistics and supply chain management training opportunities and customer supply chain systems, programs, support offerings, supplies and services to collaborative partners and customers. Participates in the development of education and training documentation. Communicates with customers and personnel on the role logistics plays in maintaining comprehensive logistics support, operational readiness and sustainability. System integration - Assists with the integration of new logistics, distribution and information systems into existing SCM operations. Detailing policies and procedures. Assists with the evaluation, troubleshooting, and optimization of existing logistics and supply chain positions. Working to resolve deficiencies and improve existing processes to support long-range planning to support and enhance overall supply chain effectiveness and readiness.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm
