Job Type: Full-Time | 0.9 FTE or 72 hours/pp | Day/Night Shift (Days Primary)

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, Christmas Even Years plus Every 3rd Weekend

Our Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg)/ICU unit is an acute care hospital department where nurses provide care to patients of all ages with a wide range of medical conditions, including those recovering from surgery. This fast-paced environment emphasizes comprehensive, patient-centered care, ongoing patient and family education, and efficient discharge planning to support safe transitions of care.

How you'll contribute

A Medical Surgical RN who excels in this role:

• Develops and implements a patient focused nursing plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family.
• Cares for patients in accordance with established best practices.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assist patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Maintains the privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information. Use and disclosure only that information which is necessary to perform the function of the job.
• Contributes to and assists in maintaining a pleasant patient environment in a safe and orderly manner.
• Performs other job duties as assigned

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license (or attain within 90 days of hire) and possess an associate degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's degree preferred). Additional requirements include:

• Basic Life Support certification is required (available upon hire)
• 1-Year Medical-Surgical Experience Preferred
• Annual Influenza Vaccination or Declination Required
