Desired Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and strong interpreting skills in educational settings
- Experience supporting K-12 students as a sign language interpreter or teaching ASL
- Ability to facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and staff
- Understanding of Deaf culture and sensitivity to student needs
- Relevant certification (e.g., EIPA, RID, or state credential) preferred
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpreting services in classrooms, meetings, and school activities
- Collaborate with educators and support teams to adapt materials and communication methods
- Assist with lesson delivery for ASL classes as needed
- Foster an inclusive environment enabling students’ participation in academic and extracurricular programs
- Maintain accurate records of interpreting assignments and ensure confidentiality
- Offer support during parent-teacher conferences, assemblies, and special school events
