LifeguardCommunity Aquatic CenterPay Rate: Starting at $15.00 per hourMajor Job Responsibilities:Safety and welfare of all patrons.Assist the Aquatics Coordinator and Senior Guards in all areas of responsibility regarding the use of the pool and facility.Directly responsible to the Aquatic Coordinator, or Senior Guard in the AC's absence.Functions Performed in Fulfilling Major Job Responsibilities:Perform effective surveillance.Enforce all pool rules and prohibit unsafe activities.Demonstrate knowledge and use of emergency site procedures.Know the location of emergency equipment and how to use it.Be courteous and tactful at all times.Report for duty on time and have the appropriate uniform on.Be aware that you can be held responsible for your actions or lack of actions.General clean up responsibilities.General lifeguard duties.Other duties as assigned by the Aquatic Coordinator and/or Senior Guard.Lifeguard Qualifications:Must possess or be enrolled in a class to obtain a current Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification.Must present all original certifications.Previous guarding and/ or swimming experience preferred.Be a capable swimmer and competent in lifeguarding skills.Be in good physical condition.Ability to enforce pool rules for a variety of groups.Work variable hours.A qualified potential candidate may be asked to pass a pre-employment skills test.Terms of Employment:HourlyVaried HoursPhysical Requirements:Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion.Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces. This factor is important if the amount and kind of balancing the amount and kind of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.Crawling: Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.Standing: Remaining upright on the feet particularly for sustained periods of time.Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
