Senior Maintenance Mechanic (Maintenance Technician III)

This role leads a team of service technicians in installing, maintaining, and repairing automated packaging and distribution equipment. The position focuses on troubleshooting complex mechanical issues, designing practical solutions for difficult problems, and managing maintenance projects that support reliable and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of service technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of automated packaging and distribution equipment.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues on automated systems and implement effective, lasting repairs.
• Design and propose solutions for difficult operational and maintenance problems to improve equipment reliability and performance.
• Manage maintenance projects from planning through completion, ensuring work is delivered on time and to a high standard.
• Support the Operations Maintenance team by providing technical guidance, sharing best practices, and fostering a culture of safety and quality.
• Coordinate with operations and other departments to minimize downtime and ensure equipment is available to meet production needs.
• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and project outcomes to support continuous improvement and future troubleshooting.
• Monitor the performance of automated equipment and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce recurring issues.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment, particularly in an automated environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose complex issues on packaging and distribution systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and guide service technicians in day-to-day maintenance activities.
• Experience designing practical solutions for difficult maintenance and operational problems.
• Ability to manage maintenance projects, including planning tasks, coordinating resources, and tracking progress.
• Clear and effective communication skills to collaborate with maintenance and operations teams.
• Strong focus on safety, quality, and reliability in all maintenance activities.

Work Environment

This position operates within a highly automated packaging and distribution setting, working closely with operations and maintenance teams on the production floor. The role follows 12-hour shifts from 4:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., on either a SundayWednesday or WednesdaySaturday schedule. The environment is fast paced and equipment intensive, requiring regular hands-on work around machinery and adherence to safety practices appropriate for an industrial facility.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Durham, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.65 - $42.65/hr.
