The position is .5 English teacher and .5 Multilingual Learner teacher to join our faculty. Certification Requirements Maine State Teaching Certification #100 (7-12 English) Maine DOE ELL Endorsement #660 (preferred) Maine Department of Education CHRC (Criminal History Record Check) Qualifications Extensive knowledge of the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts. Commitment to providing multilingual learners with equitable access to grade level curriculum. Deep understanding of curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Assist with progress monitoring of multilingual students and provide input on individualized language acquisition plans. Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and share best practices. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials to provide customized, small and large group instruction. Demonstrated ability to deliver rigorous, relevant, and engaging English instruction to students of varying abilities. Excellent communication skills with parents, teachers, administrators, community leaders and other stakeholders to promote and support student success. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to create a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning. Facilitates the common use of interpreter and translation services to ensure clear and consistent communication for multilingual families. Continues professional growth through various means such as PLCs, conferences, workshops, professional memberships, reading, etc. Administers standardized and common assessment in accordance with district and state assessment schedules. Regularly uses student data to inform instruction. Maintains technological proficiency for purposes of instruction, reporting and communicating. Analyzes student data including WIDA ACCESS, NWEA, MTYA to plan and inform instruction and direct programming. Supports the process of identifying multilingual learners and determining their eligibility for ESOL services in accordance with the RSU 23 LAU Plan Shows evidence of sensitivity to diverse cultural background and customs.
