Customer Service Representative

We are seeking a Customer Service Representative for a temp to hire opportunity in Canonsburg, PA, supporting residential and commercial customers for a gas and electric utility environment. Key Responsibilities Answer a high volume of inbound customer calls while providing professional, courteous, and timely support. Assist customers with billing questions, payment arrangements, account inquiries, service requests, and account updates. Process requests for new service connections, transfers, disconnections, and other customer account changes. Troubleshoot basic service concerns and coordinate with field operations or internal departments as needed. Educate customers on utility programs, energy-saving initiatives, assistance options, and company policies. Document customer interactions accurately while following compliance, confidentiality, quality, and call handling standards. Compensation and Benefits Pay rate: $24.00 per hour. Job type: Temp to Hire Location: Canonsburg, PA. Required Qualifications and Skills Handle inbound and outbound customer calls related to utility accounts, billing, payments, and service requests. Resolve customer questions and concerns while following company procedures and regulatory requirements. Process account updates, service changes, outage communications, and customer documentation accurately. Coordinate escalations with supervisors, specialized departments, or field operations when needed. 3 to 5 years of customer service, call center, client care, or related customer support experience. Experience handling high call volumes in a professional service environment. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain billing, account, and service information clearly. Accurate data entry skills and comfort using customer account systems or call center software. Ability to remain calm, courteous, and solution-focused when assisting customers with concerns or service issues. Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and ability to follow established policies and procedures. Reliable, team-oriented work style with a commitment to customer satisfaction and quality performance. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a utility, energy, telecommunications, financial services, or regulated customer service environment. Prior experience with billing inquiries, payment arrangements, service orders, or outage communication. Familiarity with customer relationship management systems, account management platforms, or call center tools. Ability to quickly learn utility programs, service policies, assistance programs, and energy-saving initiatives.
