Nightwing brings disruptive technologies, agility, and competitive offerings to customers in the intelligence community, defense, civil, and commercial markets.Nightwing is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern with the technical and communication skills needed to support ongoing programs at our Springfield, Virginia location. Candidates must be professional, self-starters, possess a positive attitude, and work well with engineering and technician teams.This position is an onsite role.Responsibilities to Anticipate:Support of multidisciplinary engineering activities and senior engineers on various projects within the programDesign and analysis of tools/mechanisms, creation of detailed fabrication drawings, mechanical testing, rapid prototyping and assembly, report and presentation writing, and design review supportBasic Qualifications:Enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a M.S. or B.S. in Mechanical EngineeringRising Junior or Senior by the start of Summer 2027, a GPA of 3.0+ in a 4.0 grade scale is desiredU.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and retain a U.S. Top Secret Clearance with a successful Counterintelligence (CI) polygraph (if hired full time after graduation)Experience or coursework with CAD software package for mechanical design and documentation (SolidWorks preferred)Fundamental engineering coursework and knowledgeExcellent written and oral communication skillsProficient with MS Office tools including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and ProjectAbility to adapt to shifting program and task prioritiesAbility to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, collaborative team environment balancing diverse project tasks and typesAbility to lift up to 50 poundsBackground check and drug screen required (every external new hire in the U.S.), drug screen only performed on re-hires who have been gone for more than 1 yearDesired Skills:Coursework in Mechanical EngineeringCoursework in Finite Element AnalysisExperience working in a team environmentExperience with mechanical assemblyWorking knowledge of common hand and powered toolsExperience with laboratory testingExperience with computational analysis software (e.g. Matlab, Python, MathCad)Salary & BenefitsNightwing offers medical, vision and dental insurance coverage in addition to a 401k plan, PTO, Holidays, and additional insurances.Nightwing is An Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
