Robotic Welding & Laser Systems Technician

$23.5 - $29.5 per hour

Express Employment Professionals - Grand Rapids

Job Description

Job Description

Ready to own the moment when a line goes down?

Picture this: a laser program pauses mid-run or a robotic welder flags a fault. You step in—diagnose quickly, determine whether it’s an in-house fix or an outsourced repair, and get production back on track. If that sounds like your kind of challenge, you’ll thrive here.

We’re a family-owned shop building premium chairs and tables for commercial dining spaces—seen in fast-casual hotspots and busy university cafés. Your impact is immediate: reliable equipment, precise forming, and on-spec product flow.

Your mission
  • Use work orders and machine spec sheets to prioritize service and maintenance
  • Program and support laser cutting and robotic welding operations
  • Perform tube bending to meet exact production requirements
  • Operate a forklift to position materials and equipment safely
  • Troubleshoot issues and decide whether to repair internally or outsource
  • Dismantle machinery using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists
  • Install, replace, or adjust parts; reassemble, test, and inspect results
  • Identify defects, document findings, and alert supervisors to repair needs
  • Set up and operate machines; adjust controls to hit performance targets
  • Record production, repair activity, and maintenance in the ERP system
  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks according to the PM plan
  • Pitch in on facility projects—painting, drywall, carpentry, and grounds keeping—when production peaks
When & how you’ll work
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1:00 PM–9:00 PM (OT as needed)
  • Pay: $23.50–$29.50 per hour + 10% premium
  • Bonus: $500 Sign-On after 90 days based on attendance criteria
What it takes
  • 2 years of experience programming lasers and robotic welders
  • Hands-on tube bending background
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Advanced math, measurement, and problem-solving strengths
  • Blueprint fluency and an eye for detail
  • Team mindset and flexibility to help other areas during busy periods
  • Competence with drills, grinders, sanders, welders, and similar tools
  • Basic computer/ERP ability to log time and make simple transactions

Bring your automation know-how and fabrication skills—and help keep the equipment behind our trusted furniture performing at its best.
