Operating Room Support Specialist

Job Summary Operating Room Assistant (ORA) assists the nursing team by opening sterile supplies, holding instruments and extremities, running errands, obtaining supplies and pharmacy products, transporting patients by bed, wheelchair, or stretcher, ensuring patient ID badges are correct, securing patient belongings, and performing OR turnover duties including cleaning tables, mopping floors, discarding trash, replacing linens, and assisting with inventory counts. Responsibilities • Hold instruments and extremities. • Open sterile supplies. • Run errands and obtain supplies and pharmacy products. • Transport patients by bed, wheelchair, or stretcher. • Verify patient ID badges. • Secure personal belongings. • Perform OR turnover duties such as cleaning tables, mopping floors, discarding trash, replacing linens, and supporting inventory counts. • Handle equipment and supplies with aseptic technique. • Communicate efficiently. • Maintain patient confidentiality. • Push, pull, and/or lift patients and objects up to or greater than 100 pounds. Shift & Hours Work days, evenings, and/or nights with occasional weekends, holidays, and on‑call requirements. Position requires 40 hours per week. Physical Requirements Regularly lift, push, and/or pull objects weighing up to or over 50 pounds; stand or walk with objects weighing up to 25 pounds; and be exposed to the risk of injury when moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials. May also involve exposure to blood‑borne or airborne pathogens and recombinant DNA or viral vectors. Qualifications Required Education: High School diploma. Required Experience: 1 year related experience. Preferred Experience: Previous hospital experience. Required Skills: Ability to follow directions, excellent organization, strong attention to detail, customer focus, and exceptional communication skills.
