Title of Position: Speech and Language Pathologist Program: Day Treatment Position Summary This position provides diagnostic, treatment, and consultative services in order to address speech and/or language delays in children under the age of six who have experienced multiple traumatic events. This full-time position serves four classrooms made up of eight children. This position prepares and implements weekly classroom group activities, as well as develops timely, quality assessments and treatment plans for each client. Documents all therapeutic activities and produces timely and accurate billing summaries weekly. Certification(s) / Degree(s) Required: Master’s degree in Speech Pathology with at least two years of treatment experience. Licensed Speech/Language Pathologist. Licensure in the state of Missouri. Reporting Structure: Reports to the Clinical Director of Day Treatment for administrative supervision. Hours: Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. Salary Range: This is a salaried position with a range of $65,000 - $73,000. The top end of the salary range is based on 2 years of experience. The starting salary may increase based on experience and education. Direct Services Assess identified children shortly after starting the program and throughout treatment to monitor progress. Provide treatment using individual, group and/or classroom modalities. Provide effective treatment planning with the treatment team (including client). Enhance speech/language services by educating staff and family members on specific ongoing interventions to use with the client. Help to establish optimal treatment services for all clients related to language development, via work with treatment staff and supervisors. II. Administrative Duties Demonstrate compliance with agency policy/procedures, and quality of service provision related to speech/language services. Provide timely and quality documentation of all client services, including testing results, interpretations, recommendations, assessment reports, direct service (group and individual) session notes. Collaborate effectively with other treatment team members, consultants, and other agency programs and participate in agency treatment planning activities for children, including Care Conferences and Caregiver Conference Meetings. Build rapport with caregivers and regularly communicate ways in which the family can support healthy speech language development. III. Quality Improvement Participate in ongoing development/gathering of data in speech/language area to ensure quality of services. Participate in quarterly chart audit process. Utilize available technology to maximize efficient use of resources. Seek necessary training. Assure that work meets quality standards and identify innovative ways to improve service delivery/effectiveness. IV. Professional Development/Community Outreach Participate in monthly All Staff meetings, weekly department meetings and attend in-service training sessions as determined appropriate and mutually agreed upon by the clinician and Clinical Director of Day Treatment Services. Seek out opportunities for expanded knowledge in trauma and speech language pathology. Maintain professional licensure and complete credentialing requirements. V. Staff Supervision Demonstrate quality supervision of student interns if applicable. Skills, Experience, And Education Demonstrate knowledge of speech/language development and effective interventions for the treatment. Demonstrate knowledge about child development. Demonstrate knowledge about trauma and its impact. Knowledge of the role of a mandated reporter. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality regarding records, clients, and sensitive data. Have an interpersonal style that is conducive to executing a multidisciplinary team approach. Ability to communicate directly and effectively with others, demonstrating sensitivity to cultural differences. Skilled in listening and to responding verbally to children, staff, and caregivers. Physical ability to interact, lift and hold children without restriction. Familiar with community resources, collaboration, and initiatives that will enhance The Children’s Place. Ability to work and travel within the community without restriction. Proficient in the English language, both verbal and written. Organizational and Time Management skills. Demonstrated track record of accuracy, timeliness, dependability, and reliability. Show competence and ability to operate a personal computer, fax machine, photocopier, printer, and telephone. Working Conditions Ability to access multiple levels of the agency’s or client’s building. When required, be responsible for the client’s physical safety. Must understand and follow building security procedures. Business casual office attire. Exposure to childhood illnesses. Flu and COVID vaccinations are highly recommended. Exposure to sensitive client subject matter. Exposure to vicarious trauma.
