Position Summary

The Payroll and Accounting Specialist is responsible for processing biweekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees. This position supports, promotes and furthers our goal of providing the highest standards of culturally relevant and sensitive professional service consistent with our mission.

What You'll Do

• Processes biweekly payrolls
• Prepares accounts payable and receivables
• Assists with end of the month staff corporate card payments
• Processes checks for financial assistance program
• Monitors paid time off for all eligible employees (i.e. vacation, EIB, bereavement, etc.)
• Runs reports such as employee census as requested by insurance broker and workers' compensation
• Assists with month-end closing corporate credit card reconciliations
• Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
• Protects Agency's value by keeping information confidential
• Assists with any special projects, tasks or duties beyond what is outlined here that may be assigned
• Assists HR with benefits administration tasks as assigned

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience in payroll and accounting required
• MS Office skills including proficiency in Excel and Word
• Technical ability to learn accounting software programs
• Experience with accounting/fundraising systems, especially MIP Fund Accounting/AbilaFR50 preferred
• Experience in the non-profit sector preferred
• Experience with Paycom HRIS preferred
• Demonstrates curiosity, eagerness to learn and grow
• Possesses strong organizational and analytical skills; ability to understand technical forms and financial reports
• Ability to collaborate and build positive relationships within and outside of the Accounting department
• Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, and presentation
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
