Maternal Care and Recovery
- Monitors vital signs and tracks physical recovery, including checking the uterus (fundal checks), surgical incisions after a C-section, and lochia (postpartum bleeding).
- Manages pain using medications, ice packs, and prescribed comfort measures.
- Screens for complications like postpartum hemorrhage, infections, and blood clots.
- Evaluates emotional health by watching for early signs of postpartum mood disorders or depression.
- Tracks vital signs and performs routine newborn assessments, including weight checks, skin evaluations, and blood tests.
- Administers treatments such as mandated infant screenings, initial baths, and early vaccinations.
- Ensures safety by verifying identification bands and monitoring infant feeding and elimination (wet/dirty diapers)
