Richmond Head Start Cook PositionDo you love to cook? Are you a team player? Do you like to work with kids too? We have the job for you! The Richmond Head Start is looking for a cook!The cook is responsible for the overall food service, ordering, and prepping. Following established procedures and guidelines while providing educational support around nutrition.Essential Functions:Prepare and serve well-balanced, nutritious meals in large quantities within menu requirements, following established recipesMaintain accurate CACFP recordsProvide guidance to food service volunteersShare information with appropriate staff concerning the enrolled children's dietary needsMaintain equipment and supplies used in the kitchen and dining areaConduct kitchen equipment and food inventoryComplete production records for each meal to ensure an adequate amount of food is prepared to meet nutrition guidelinesMonitor and participate in meals served and tooth brushing programParticipate in annual menu planningAct as nutrition educator, providing nutrition education to familiesParticipate in scheduled center staff meetingsMaintain a clean and sanitary food prep areaComplete and document weekly and monthly cleaning dutiesPlan and conduct two food activities a month with the input and support of the teacherPlan and conduct daily nutrition education with childrenPass the ServSafe certification class within two years of hireDevelop weekly grocery list and purchase necessary items that cannot be ordered through the vendorMaintain confidentiality concerning a child's files and health needsHigh School Diploma or GED required. Driver's License required. This position will not start until August 2025. This is a 30 hour per week position.
