Key Responsibilities of the Pharmacist
- Accept and dispense prescription medications
- Monitor patient medication compliance and over-usage patterns
- Ensure that the supply of medicines is within the law
- Accurately maintain confidential patient records
- Advise patients about medicine usage and potential reactions
- Provide consultation on medications for storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions
- Supervise pharmacy staff including pharmacy technicians and clerks
- Maintain appropriate inventory on pharmaceutical and medical supplies
- Identify and communicate patient drug-related problems with healthcare practitioners
Requirements of the Pharmacist
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree required
- Licensed by the state pharmacy board
