Principal Clinical Content- Physician - UpToDate, Physician Editor, Neurology (Waltham)

LOCATION: U.S. locations – remote or hybrid. Candidates within commuting distance of a Wolters Kluwer office will be considered for hybrid employment; others for remote employment.

OVERVIEW

The Physician Editor, Neurology position requires an 80%‑90% FTE commitment to editorial work, a broad understanding of clinical issues, and an interest in analyzing the literature. This role offers the opportunity to impact medical practice across the United States and worldwide. Physician Editors ensure topics address the critical clinical questions that arise when diagnosing or managing a specific disorder, present information clearly and succinctly, and provide evidence‑based, actionable recommendations. Extensive editorial training is provided, overseen by senior Physician Editors, until a satisfactory level of independence is achieved.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key duties include:

  • Review and edit contributions from external expert authors to ensure alignment with clinical needs and evidence‑based guidelines.
  • Maintain the accuracy and relevance of topics, updating them in response to new literature and emerging developments.
  • Systematically review existing topics for clarity, completeness, and clinical relevance.
  • Collaborate with outside authors, section editors, editors‑in‑chief, peer reviewers, and in‑house editorial and graphics assistants to produce and maintain each topic.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education:

  • Medical Degree
  • Board Certification/Eligibility in Neurology

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Clinical experience in an academic setting after residency.
  • Valid medical license in at least one U.S. state.
  • Impeccable communication skills: verbal, written, and listening.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at different skill levels.
  • Self‑motivated, with excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to give and receive feedback effectively.
  • Interest in critical analysis of the medical literature (skills can be learned on the job).
  • Ability to dedicate 80%‑90% of the work week to editorial work.
  • Interest in and commitment to maintaining clinical work (10%‑20%).

TRAVEL: Minimal – less than 5%

Compensation: $173,500.00 – $310,000.00 USD (base salary, with potential bonus).
