Licensed Practical Nurse - Day One Benefits

Overview Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services, reporting to the Plasma Center Manager. Supports plasma center operations by determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. The role works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) and Center Physician for medical issues, familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment, and provides center-level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS). Responsibilities Determine donor eligibility, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE). Evaluate donor reactions as they occur at the facility and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including developing Center Physician standing orders and transporting donors to emergency care facilities. Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when there are unacceptable findings or for guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility. Support vaccination programs for employees as applicable (Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu). Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation by occupational health/ER is required; refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents. Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, including graduation from an approved nursing program with state requirements. Currently licensed or certified in the state of responsibilities (LPN or LVN). Current CPR and AED certification. Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy (in state of licensure). Satisfactorily complete the FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist. Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
