Supervisor

General Description Supervises associate staff and coordinates high-level union programs and projects in the union’s Divisions and Departments such as Communications and Research Division (CRD) and the Equity and Justice Department (EJD). Provides day-to-day project management and supervisory support for a wide range of complex projects and unionwide initiatives. Duties and Responsibilities Supervises, directs and evaluates associate staff in the performance of their work. Participates in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of associate staff and contributes to associate staff assignments and work planning. Monitors and approves expenses and attendance records for associate staff; approves overtime, compensatory time and leave requests. Provides consultation on various personnel matters; mediates internal disputes, counsels associate staff, and responds to employee grievances as required. Works with associate staff on time management, project management, and accountability for project completion within established timelines. Provides strategic coordination and supervision of database management for various programs and conferences, collaborating with other CTA divisions to support organizational initiatives. Manages, oversees, staffs, and drives other high-level projects and programs with associate and other division and department staff. Monitors and approves purchase orders, check requisitions, work orders, supply requisitions, and computer, printing and training requests. Reviews and approves expenditures for the operation of the Division/Department, prepares quarterly budget variance reports and monitors the Division/Department's annual budget. Ensures compliance with safety and workers’ compensation reporting requirements, including completion of supervisor’s report of injury. Reviews facilities and evaluates equipment needs within the Division/Department; conducts safety inspections and recommends corrective measures and assists staff with office concerns. Manages logistics for conferences, meetings, events, and trainings including hotel contract/agreement, site inspection of hotel properties; oversees production and distribution of materials, finances, and registration processes. Performs other duties assigned. Qualifications - Minimum Required Bachelors or Associate Degree and minimum two years of relevant supervisorial experience, or five years of relevant experience. Knowledge of CTA structure, policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement and initiative, and to organize work in a systematic and effective manner with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated planning, coordination, and follow-through skills as applied to large and complex projects and programs. Ability to function effectively under pressure and independently solve routine issues. Computer proficiency and the ability to learn and use the Association's software programs. Ability to work overtime and travel as needed. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid California Driver's License.
