Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a Medical Surgical Acute Care setting provides direct patient care under the supervision of nursing staff. This role involves assisting patients with daily living activities, supporting clinical procedures, and ensuring efficient department operations. The CNA collaborates with the healthcare team to deliver quality care in a critical access hospital environment. Responsibilities:

• Assist patients with activities of daily living including hygiene, feeding, ambulation, and positioning.
• Perform routine clinical tasks such as obtaining vital signs, pulse oximetry, and specimen collection.
• Support nursing staff in patient care procedures including incentive spirometry, suctioning, blood sugar monitoring, and EKGs.
• Prepare patient rooms and equipment, assist with admissions, discharges, and post-mortem care.
• Document patient care activities accurately in electronic medical records.
• Maintain cleanliness and functionality of medical equipment and supplies.
• Communicate patient status and changes to licensed nursing personnel.
• Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, coordinating supplies, and data entry.
• Float within scope to acute care, inpatient, swing bed, and observation units as needed.

• Current AK CNA License.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR certification.
• AK Food Handler's Card.
• Minimum of 1 year acute care experience.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced acute care hospital setting.

• Experience in critical access hospital or similar acute care environments.
• Familiarity with electronic charting systems such as ECS.
• Flexibility to work holidays and float between units.

• Position is not on-call.
• Floating within scope to various units including acute care, inpatient, swing bed, and observation is required.
• Travelers must be willing to work assigned shifts and holiday coverage.
• RTO (Request Time Off) policy limits no more than 2 weeks for a 26-week contract; all RTO requests must be submitted with application.
• Local candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; pending licenses are not accepted.

• Shift options: 4x12 or 3x12 hour night shifts.
• Guaranteed 72 hours per two-week pay period, with possible call-off for one 12-hour shift per two weeks.
• Block scheduling is not accommodated.
• Traveler's choice of 13 or 26 week assignment duration.
