Gastroenterologist (MD/DO)The Gastroenterologist provides comprehensive medical care for patients with disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, and biliary system. This role includes outpatient clinical care, inpatient consultation, and performance of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures while delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care.Key Responsibilities:Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary conditionsProvide outpatient gastroenterology clinic services and inpatient consultative carePerform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including upper endoscopy (EGD) and colonoscopyDevelop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical guidelinesOrder, interpret, and review laboratory tests, imaging studies, pathology, and endoscopy resultsManage patients with liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, functional GI disorders, and GI bleedingCollaborate with primary care providers, surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, and other specialistsEducate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive careMaintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health recordParticipate in call coverage and endoscopy unit responsibilities as requiredAdhere to quality, safety, and regulatory standards and participate in quality improvement initiativesQualifications:Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency programCompletion of an accredited Gastroenterology fellowshipBoard eligible or board certified in GastroenterologyActive or eligible state medical licenseDEA registration or eligibilitySkills and Competencies:Strong clinical expertise in gastrointestinal and liver disease managementProficiency in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopyExcellent communication and patient counseling skillsAbility to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environmentCommitment to high-quality, evidence-based patient careWork Environment:Combination of outpatient clinic, inpatient consult service, and endoscopy suiteSchedule and call responsibilities vary by practice model
