Medical Assistant

Obtain and document reason for visit and patient vital signs Collect, process, track, and transport specimens according to protocols Stock patient care areas with unexpired supplies and maintain equipment and instruments Prepare patients and instruments for scheduled procedures Schedule diagnostic and therapeutic services and monitor follow-up of test results Prepare and administer vaccines, medications, and controlled substances under supervision and as competencies permit Process prescription requests and refills Perform basic office procedures, examinations, and tests ordered by providers Provide patient care instructions and education Obtain and communicate comprehensive patient health information to providers Complete pre-visit planning, visit preparation, health history, and medication review in the EHR Manage daily patient flow and prioritize delegated care tasks Support providers during visits and exams, including documentation, orders, and post-visit education Maintain patient confidentiality, medical records, clinical competency, and required audit performance Promote patient safety, infection control, privacy, and emergency interventions Prepare sites for invasive joint injections/aspirations using sterile techniques Stock and maintain clean, presentable exam rooms Assist with post-operative dressing changes, suture removal, and wound care under direct supervision Participate in designated programs and huddles Collaborate with unit, department, clinic, and care delivery teams Requirements 2 years of Medical Assistant experience Outpatient experience desirable Knowledge of phlebotomy, aseptic technique, basic wound care, patient safety, and patient transport techniques High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.), may include specialized or vocational courses Additional outpatient didactic and clinical training such as completion of a corpsmen or patient care associate program, or equivalent experience Successful completion of a certified medical assistant training program Exceptional customer service skills Superior written and oral communication skills Ability to maintain a positive attitude toward assignments and others in a fast-paced environment Capacity to multitask and prioritize in an ever-changing healthcare environment Ability to work collaboratively with others Respect for information confidentiality Ability to show initiative, good judgment, and resourcefulness Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance Core Competencies Demonstrates proficiency in patient care, including obtaining vital signs, administering medications, and performing basic office procedures.
