General Function Selected candidates are intended to become a Retail Personal Banker I after completing a 4‑8 week onboarding and education program that includes rotations in operations and Sales & Service. The program culminates in a certification that demonstrates the skills needed to perform successfully in the Retail Personal Banker job family. This Financial Center role focuses on using a consultative sales process to identify and meet financial needs of customers or prospects, acquire new households, and deepen existing customer relationships through activities such as lobby leadership, aisle time, and tele‑consulting. The role also processes teller transactions and works as part of the platform staff while ensuring risk compliance and a positive customer experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Use the consultative sales process and Financial Needs Assessment to build a thorough customer profile and identify current and future financial needs. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of Retail consumer and small business products/services and recommend appropriate solutions. Utilize CAMP and other approved marketing tools to proactively reach out to customers and set appointments for periodic financial reviews. Focus on cross‑selling to the existing customer base and engaging in outside sales activities such as onsite presentations, business sales calls, and community financial literacy events. Establish close working relationships with assigned Business Partners (Mortgage, Small Business, Commercial, and Investment) and refer customers when appropriate to provide holistic financial solutions. Consistently meet or exceed customer experience and individual/team production goals, enhancing year‑over‑year revenue growth as measured by the Financial Center P&L. Guide CSRs regarding the sales and referral process. Promote customer satisfaction with a friendly, helpful demeanor and professionalism. Answer customer questions and own customer issues with confidence. Maintain trust by keeping all business confidential. Follow the Bancorp Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and related policies. Adhere to established policies and procedures while opening/servicing the full range of Retail products. Participate in the consumer loan and bankcard process, owning sourced loans from application through closing. Participate in the opening/closing process of the Financial Center or Bank Mart as directed. Stay up to date on Retail procedures to mitigate fraudulent activity and risk exposure. Supervisory Responsibilities None. Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required College degree or equivalent work experience that provides transferable skills. Experience in the financial industry preferred. Ability to develop comfort with sales activities aimed at acquiring new and cross‑selling to existing customers. Proficiency with advanced math functions for analyzing credit and financial information. Professional appearance and verbal/written communication skills that represent Fifth Third Bank. Working knowledge of Retail policies and procedures to exercise sound judgment in decision making. S.A.F.E. Act registration required at time of employment via the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS). Working Conditions Normal office environment. Long periods of computer screen use. Program requires travel within the affiliate for training and scheduling flexibility. Travel outside the affiliate for classroom training sessions.
