Job Title: Plumbing Foreman Job Description

This role oversees the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems on commercial construction projects. The Plumbing Foreman leads a field team, ensures all work complies with local codes and safety standards, and actively participates in hands-on commercial plumbing tasks, including reading blueprints, installing piping systems, and troubleshooting complex plumbing issues in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise commercial plumbing crews on construction and renovation projects, ensuring work progresses safely and efficiently.
• Install, maintain, and repair water, sewer, and gas piping systems in commercial buildings.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan and execute plumbing layouts and installations.
• Lay out, assemble, and install piping using materials such as cast iron, PVC, and copper, including ProPress systems.
• Perform copper soldering and other joining methods to ensure secure and leak-free connections.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose plumbing issues in commercial systems and implement effective repair solutions.
• Verify that all plumbing work complies with local plumbing codes, building regulations, and safety standards.
• Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and adherence to project specifications.
• Coordinate with general contractors, other trades, and project stakeholders to maintain project schedules and resolve field issues.
• Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of plumbing tools, equipment, and materials on the job site.
• Promote and enforce safe work practices, including adherence to OSHA and site-specific safety requirements.
• Document work performed as required, including recording measurements, materials used, and any changes to plans.
• Train and mentor less experienced plumbers and helpers, sharing best practices and technical knowledge.
• Lift and move materials and equipment up to 50 lbs and perform tasks in various job site conditions, including confined spaces or elevated work areas.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience in commercial plumbing installation and service.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications accurately.
• Strong working knowledge of local plumbing codes and safety regulations.
• Proficiency with plumbing tools, equipment, and materials commonly used in commercial projects.
• Hands-on experience with cast iron, PVC, and copper piping systems.
• Skill in copper soldering and use of ProPress (or similar) systems for pipe joining.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities for complex plumbing systems.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Reliable transportation and a strong attendance record.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a variety of job site conditions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• OSHA certification is a plus.
• Journeyman or Plumbing License is preferred, where applicable.
• Experience leading or supervising plumbing crews on commercial projects is highly beneficial.
• Familiarity with reading and applying construction documents and specifications.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to regulatory requirements.

Work Environment

This position is field-based on active commercial construction sites and existing commercial buildings. You will work in a fast-paced environment that may include exposure to varying weather conditions, confined spaces, elevated work areas, and active construction activity. The role requires regular use of plumbing tools and equipment such as pipe cutters, threaders, soldering equipment, and ProPress tools, as well as handling materials like cast iron, PVC, and copper piping. Standard work hours typically follow a full-time daytime schedule, with potential for schedule adjustments based on project needs. Appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment, such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and work boots, are required to maintain a safe job site.

This is a Contract position based out of Fort Liberty, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
