MSK is dedicated to training the next generation of scientists and clinicians, who go on to pursue our mission at MSK and around the globe.The Department of Pediatrics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is seeking a Pediatric Palliative Care Physician to join the Pediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT) providing pain and palliative care services for children and young adults with cancer and cancer related illnesses.PACT is a busy and growing service providing advanced pain and symptom management and palliative care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. PACT is composed of three physicians, three nurse practitioners, an office practice nurse, and office and clinic care coordinators. PACT works closely with integrative medicine, pediatric psychiatry and psychology, child life, social work, and chaplaincy, along with the primary oncology services. We have strong relationships with the hospices in the region.We are actively seeking a physician board-eligible/board certified in pediatrics and pediatric hospice and palliative medicine who is interested in a clinically focused academic career. Our mission includes clinical care, research, education, advocacy, community outreach, and coordinated care with local home hospice services. The Department of Pediatrics has a robust research infrastructure to support a variety of research interests. This search is open to potential candidates at all levels of career experience and appointments will be made at an academic level commensurate with the appointee’s experience. MSK provides both clinician educator and research pathways.Role Overview:As a member of the Pediatric Advanced Care Team, you will have the responsibility for:Direct patient care for children and young adults with cancer or cancer-related conditions in our inpatient, PICU, day hospital, pediatric urgent care, and outpatient clinics; all located on the same floor of our main campus hospital.Inpatient and outpatient service time divided among three physicians.Home call equally shared among physicians to address urgent inpatient concerns.Providing education to:Pediatric residents on their oncology rotation who come from seven pediatric residency programs.Pediatric hematology/oncology fellows from the combined MSK/Weill Cornell Medicine program.Rotating physician and NP/PA palliative care fellows from the MSK Supportive Care Service on their pediatric rotation.Visiting medical students, residents, and fellows on pediatric palliative care rotations.Pediatric faculty and staff to enhance primary palliative care.Academic pursuits based on candidate interests with protected time provided. Examples include research studies, quality improvement, and program development.Facilitating development of a pediatric palliative care fellowship track.Key Requirements: Applicants must possess a full unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of New York (or must be licensed in another jurisdiction and be eligible for licensure in New York and New Jersey).They must possess a Doctor of Medicine (MD), Osteopathy (DO) or equivalent.Board-certified in Pediatrics and or Board-eligible in Palliative CareEligible for appointment ranging from Assistant Member to Member.Candidate Characteristics:Demonstrated focus on family-centered care for a wide range of children and young adults with cancer.Exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.Excellent communication skills.The ability to work in a team environment and to lead teams.Respect for diversity.Professional competence, ethical standards, and the ability to serve as a role model for other faculty, fellows, and resident physicians.Submit C.V., letter of interest, and references in your application submission to:James S.
