A Brief Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for managing individualized patient care by promoting and restoring patients' health through the nursing process. The RN collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, provides physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families, and supervises assigned team members. The RN administers conscious sedation medication to Endoscopy patients per organizational policy and procedures, offers technical assistance to the physician during the Endoscopic procedure, ensures the Endoscopic suite is adequately prepared, monitors PAR levels of the equipment, cleans and sterilizes scopes and equipment as needed, handles specimen labeling, transport, and logging, and may be on-call. What you will do Perform endoscopy procedure set up, including physician preference and expectations. Test equipment for proper functioning and availability. Assist the RN/Physician with proper positioning of the patient. Maintain standards and principles of asepsis, using proper aseptic technique in handling equipment and supplies. Handle and disinfect scopes properly. Ensure compliance with Universal Protocol, including procedural Time‑Out participation and labeling solutions/medications on the sterile field. Handle specimens, including proper labeling, transport, and logging in the lab. Document patient condition, assessment findings, and responses to nursing interventions, and progress toward problem resolution. Initiate emergency resuscitative measures according to adult resuscitation and advanced life support protocols. Maintain confidentiality and provide care in a non‑judgmental, non‑discriminatory manner sensitive to diversity, preserving patients’ autonomy, dignity, and rights. Education Qualifications Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) – Required Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) – Preferred Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) – Preferred Experience Qualifications Previous experience in an acute care setting – Required Endoscopy or Operating Room (OR) experience – Preferred Skills and Abilities Work effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers. Proficient in using Electronic Health Record (EMR) for patient‑level care and coordination. Excellent verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate with others to improve quality and address needs. Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse – South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation in good standing with South Carolina Board of Nursing – Required Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified – American Heart Association, required within 30 days of hire and recertified every two years Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certified – American Heart Association, required within 30 days of hire Physical Demand Medium Physical Demand.
