Voter Education Specialist

Our Mission: We are building a Gen Z-led movement seeking to empower young leaders to advocate for transformative policy and bold political action, predominantly at a state and local level. We are committed to a bottom-up movement that prioritizes the needs of the communities we represent and seeks to reclaim our future by advocating for social, economic, environmental, and other kinds of political reform.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Voter Education Specialist reports to the Director and Deputy Director of Civic Engagement. The Voter Education Specialist is responsible for the design and maintenance of Beyond the Ballot’s voter education curriculum, messaging, and resource materials. The Voter Education Specialist will aid in expanding Beyond the Ballot’s voter education strategy, including generating outreach materials to educate voters, assisting in voter registration/mobilization initiatives, and supporting ongoing civic literacy campaigns. The Specialist will assist in advancing Beyond the Ballot’s nonpartisan Get Out The Vote (GOTV) efforts, advancing initiatives that mobilize young voters at every level of government through education and outreach. This role is central to building long-term political power among Gen Z and turning civic engagement into real-world impact. Due to the remote nature of work at Beyond the Ballot, this position can be performed in different time zones than the organization’s central branch.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or technical school preferred

WORK EXPERIENCE:

• Prior work in the non-profit or political sector is highly preferred.

• Experience in managing and mentoring staff, collaborating with different departments, and fostering a positive work culture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Develop, maintain, and implement a voter education curriculum that aligns with Beyond the Ballot’s legislative priorities.

• Develop, maintain, and enforce the organization's endorsement policy, procedures, and processes in accordance with the Bylaws and applicable policies.

• Generate outreach materials relating to nonpartisan “Get Out the Vote” efforts, voter registration efforts, or any non-legislative advocacy efforts.

• Provide regular updates and support the professional development and positive collaboration with team members.

• Help build and cultivate a national Civic Engagement department.

• Regularly communicate with both department directors to coordinate engagement efforts.

• Utilize strong strategic, analytical, and organizational skills.

• Utilize excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Analyze demographic data, identify trends, and propose solutions to challenges the organization and department face.

Vision: Ability to read small print and view a computer screen for prolonged periods.

Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret, and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgment and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records. Understand how to manage stress.

Remote Work Requirements: Regular access to a stable internet connection is required.

Additional Work Conditions & Physical Abilities: Ability to be flexible and adapt as needed between various in-person working environments. May require travel to multiple states.
