Location: Chicago, Illinois (Hybrid)

Role Overview

We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Optimization Developer with experience in designing and developing high-performing, large-scale applications. The candidate will work closely with business, technical, and operations research teams to gather, analyze, and understand business requirements. This role involves building mathematical optimization, statistical, and decision support models.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performing, large-scale C++ applications and optimization models.
• Collaborate with business and technical teams to translate requirements into effective optimization solutions.
• Utilize commercial optimization software, such as IBM ILOG CPLEX, to build and solve complex models.
• Employ software engineering best practices, including version control, packaging, and release management.
• Work with languages like Python and Julia to support modeling and development tasks.
• Operate within a Linux server environment and use Unix shell scripting.

Required Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a focus in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, or a related field is required.

Experience: A minimum of 4 years of professional work experience in applied operations research is required. This includes experience with decision analysis, optimization, simulation, statistics, and stochastic modeling.

Technical Skills:

• Strong experience with C++.
• Proficiency with commercial optimization software such as IBM ILOG CPLEX, GUROBI, LINDO, or Xpress.
• Knowledge of optimization modeling and theory, including nonlinear and mixed-integer optimization.
• Experience with Python and/or Julia.
• Familiarity with Linux environments and Unix shell scripting.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a transportation environment.
• Knowledge of Java or JavaScript.
• Experience with cloud platforms.
